Platform prerequisite not met: GTK 4.22 / libadwaita 1.9 / glibc 2.45 are unavailable in Ubuntu 24.04 apt (GTK 4.14.5, libadwaita 1.5.0, glibc 2.39). Error: boxxy-agent: error while loading shared libraries: libgtk-4.so.1: cannot open shared object file. This reproduces the earlier failed run.

Current diagnosis: unknown · prerequisite

Prerequisite mismatch with the host OS, not a repo source defect. The prebuilt nightly boxxy-agent needs GLIBC_2.45 and libgtk-4.so.1 (GTK 4.22). This Ubuntu 24.04 VM has glibc 2.39, GTK 4.14 and no libadwaita. boxxy-agent links GTK transitively: boxxy-claw depends on boxxy-preferences and boxxy-model-selection, which depend on gtk4 and libadwaita. The Flatpak path runs the agent on the host through flatpak-spawn --host, so it does not avoid the mismatch.

Step: Native Nightly install -> run installed binaries (boxxy-agent --help / boxxy-terminal --version)

Prebuilt nightly binaries require glibc 2.45 and GTK 4.22/libadwaita 1.9 runtime libraries; this VM is Ubuntu 24.04 (glibc 2.39, GTK 4.14, no libadwaita, no display). Failing error: 'libgtk-4.so.1: cannot open shared object file' and 'weak version GLIBC_2.45 not found'.

Suggested next step (agent-reported): Run on a distro that ships glibc >= 2.45 and GTK 4.22 + libadwaita 1.9 (or use the Flatpak Nightly path from the README, which bundles the GNOME runtime), and provide a display (e.g. Xvfb or Wayland) for boxxy-terminal. Alternatively build from source per AGENTS.md with the matching GTK/libadwaita dev packages. The probe checks a single binary --version call that is expected to fail until the runtime exists.

What the agent did

Attempted README 'Native Nightly' install of Boxxy, then tried to run the installed boxxy-agent / boxxy-terminal binaries (--help / --version). No MCP server exists in Boxxy to start and list tools from; boxxy_mcp is an MCP client.

Read README.md (Install > Native Nightly)
Read scripts/install.sh; fetched the published install.sh and confirmed it matches the pinned copy
sh scripts/install.sh (exit 0; installed to /root/.local/boxxy-terminal, symlinks in /root/.local/bin)
ldd check on bin/boxxy-agent and bin/boxxy-terminal: libgtk-4.so.1, libadwaita-1.so.0, libgstreamer-1.0.so.0 etc. not found; GLIBC_2.45 not found

Operation / attempted scope Not completed. Install script succeeded and binaries were placed, but neither binary runs on this host. Unmet prerequisites: GTK 4.22 and libAdwaita 1.9 (host has no libadwaita, apt offers GTK 4.14 only), glibc 2.45 (host has 2.39), and a display/D-Bus session for the GUI terminal. Flatpak installed and ran boxxy-terminal --help, but the agent is copied to the host and run there, so it hits the same host library mismatch. Repo MCP/CLI operation not reached.

Agent-reported scope: README Install -> Native Nightly (scripts/install.sh), then run installed binaries: boxxy-agent --help and boxxy-terminal --version. Also tried README Flatpak Nightly as the alternative install path.

Step: Native Nightly install -> run installed binaries (boxxy-agent --help / boxxy-terminal --version)

This Ubuntu 24.04 VM has glibc 2.39, GTK 4.14 and no libadwaita. boxxy-agent links GTK transitively: boxxy-claw depends on boxxy-preferences and boxxy-mod

Suggested next step (agent-reported): Run on a host that provides glibc >= 2.45, GTK 4.22 and libadwaita 1.9 (for example a current Fedora or Arch release, or Ubuntu 26.04 if it ships those), with a graphical/D-Bus session for boxxy-terminal. Alternatively, a product-level change would be needed: decouple boxxy-agent from GTK by moving the GTK-dependent preferences/model-selection code out of the boxxy_claw dependency path, so the daemon can build and run headless. That is a larger refactor and was not attempted here.
